Dogfish 24 ton Ballast Hopper Wagon № DB993399, built in 1959 by Metro-Cammell, Saltley, near Birmingham, was built to transport and distribute ballast at railway worksites.
The ballast is distributed to each side of and in between, the rails by the opening or closing of three doors and chutes at the base of the hopper compartment.
