Donations & Fundraising

The Northampton & Lamport Railway has developed through the years by donations and volunteers undertaking fundraising activities.
There are several ways someone can help the railway, either by contributing to a fundraising activity or by making a donation of time, money, equipment or services; some of which are outlined below.

Fundraising Activities

Boughton Crossing Extender Ticket

Minimum donation of £5.00.
Once the Boughton Crossing extension is open
the ticket value is twice the donated sum for
travelling on the extended line.
This ticket is available from the Pitsford
& Brampton Station Booking Office.

Share Purchase Scheme

All current members of the Northampton
& Lamport Preservation Society
are eligible to purchase shares in
Northampton Steam Railway Limited.
A share is sold at £1.00, with blocks of 25
shares available for purchase.
Shares can be purchased as discrete purchases
or by standing order.

Retail Activities

The Shop for exclusive products,
books, DVDs & war time / Home
Guard memorabilia.
The Emporium for second hand
books, DVDs and games.
The Engine Shed for all types of
second hand items.

Platform 3 Buffet

Why not pop in to the Buffet for
a hot or cold drink or a snack?
Tea, coffee or cans of drink along
with Burgers, Baps, Jacket Potatos,
Pizza and sweets & cakes
are available.

Ice Cream is available from
the Pitsford & Brampton Station
Booking Office.

Display/Sales Stand

A display/sales stand is available
for attending events away from the
railway. Depending on which members
are attending, a model railway
'Loco Doctor' service can be
provided.

Donations

Donation of Time

If you would like to donate some of your time to help run, maintain or develop the railway, you will need to become a member of The Northampton & Lamport Railway Preservation Society (NLRPS).
Details and information about membership can be found on the Membership page.

Financial Donations

The Northampton & Lamport Railway Preservation Society has a number of funds for various aspects of railway activities they are:

General fund — for publicity & educational materials and general society activities.
Ballast fund — for the purchase of the aggregate that surrounds the sleepers.
Buildings fund — for the construction and maintenance of station buildings, engine/coach sheds, platforms and signal box structures.
Bridge fund — for the restoration and maintenance of bridges.
Track fund — for the purchase of rails, sleepers and associated fittings
Signalling & Telegraph fund — for the purchase, restoration and maintenance of signalling and telephony equipment.
Vehicle fund — for the purchase, restoration and maintenance of rail, road-rail & selected road vehicles and associated tools e.g. wagons, coaches, locomotives etc.
Roller fund — for the restoration and maintenance of the Allchin Road Roller.

Note: If no preference of fund is indicated, any donation will be placed in the General fund and used as the society sees fit to further its aims.

Please consider using Gift Aid, as it means The Northampton & Lamport Railway Preservation Society can recover a sum equal to the basic rate of income tax you paid, thus helping your donation go further.
This means at a rate of 20% a £10 donation can be turned into £12.00, so long as donations are made through Gift Aid.

Imagine what a difference that could make and it doesn't cost you a thing!

To qualify for Gift Aid, what you pay in income tax or capital gains tax must equal or exceed the amount the charity will claim in the tax year.
If you are a higher rate tax payer you will also be able to claim a tax relief through your tax return.

obtained from the NLRPS.

Leaving a Legacy

If you would like to leave a legacy to
the railway, please contact the the
Northampton & Lamport Railway
Preservation Society's Treasurer or
one of the Northampton Steam Railway
Limited board members in the first
instance, for advice.

Equipment & Services

Donations of equipment or services are gratefully received.
In the first instance come down to the line on a Sunday to see the relevent department head or make contact using the details on the Contacts page, or by emailing enquiries@nlr.org.uk.
