With the exception of a few areas where the top plating requires replacing, the upper parts of the bridge have now been painted. |

The track now continues off of the bridge and joins onto the newly laid northern extension. |

Now that the summer is here it is possible to erect the scaffolding over the centre river span to allow access for shot blasting and painting. |

Because of the cost involved in having the scaffolding erected all of the cleaning an painting required on the centre span is being completed in one go, whereas the outer faces of the girders on the rest of the bridge have been left until last. |
