From Northampton & the south
Heading north-west out of Northampton on the A5199 (formerly A50) Welford Road, turn right into Pitsford Road at the sign posted turning (A brown sign) in the middle of the village of Chapel Brampton, just after the “Spencer Arms” public house.
An alternative route is available if you leave Northampton heading north on the A508 turn left just before the turning to Pitsford (The turning is sign posted with brown sign).
From the northbound M1
From the M1 northbound, exit at Junction 16 & follow signs for Northampton. Once in Northampton follow signs for Market Harborough (A508). The NLR is located approximately 5 miles north of the town. Turn left towards Chapel Brampton at Pitsford crossroads
From the eastbound A14 & southbound M1 / M6
From the M1 southbound, leave at Junction 19 (Cathorpe Interchange — A14, M1 & M6) and join the A14 heading east towards Kettering, Cambridge or Felixstowe. Leave the A14 at Junction 1, the A5199 exit and turn right towards Northampton. In Chapel Brampton (approx 8 miles) turn left into Pitsford Road at the sign posted turning (A brown sign) in the middle of the village of Chapel Brampton, just before the “Spencer Arms” public house.
Alternative routes are via A14 Junction 2, the A508 exit and head towards Northampton or via A14 Junction 3, as discussed in the westbound A14 directions below.
From the westbound A14
Leave the A14 at Junction 3, and take the second exit off the roundabout, sign posted Lamport. Follow this road until it meets the A508 on the northen side of Lamport Hall, opposite “The Swan” public house. Turn left and follow the A508 towards Northampton until the Pitsford crossroads and turn right into Pitsford Road / Brampton Lane at the sign posted turning (A brown sign) towards Chapel Brampton.
An alternative is to leave the A14 at Junction 2, the A508 exit and turn left towards Northampton.
Public Transport Services
Unfortunately the bus services near the NLR are below average and on Sundays poor. On Sundays there is a 2-hourly service to Pitsford on the A508 (the X7) which is a 1½ mile walk to Pitsford & Brampton station from the nearest request stop (Pitsford turn) or a 2 mile walk from the Boughton turn stop. The Boughton turn stop provides the opportunity for you to walk along the Brampton Valley Way and view the adjacent NLR southern extension to Boughton Crossing, which is under construction.
Other services exist on Monday to Saturdays, such as an enhanced Stagecoach X7 service or Centerbus’s 60 service between Northampton & Welford and a Wednesdays only service is provided by Milton Keynes Community Transport between Northampton & Scaldwell.
The nearest national mainline railway station is Northampton (formally Northampton Castle station), with services provided by London Midland.
