Founded in 1981 (originally called the Welland Valley Railway Revival Group) the Northampton & Lamport Railway Preservation Society (NLRPS) has been fundraising and rebuilding the old Northampton and Market Harborough line.
Based at Pitsford and Brampton Station the society helps to run services along just under 1½ miles of the former line. All done by the support of our members and a dedicated team of volunteers working on various of projects to restoring rolling stock and rebuilding the old line as well as running the day to day services every Sunday.
Supporting your railway
None of what we have achieved so far could be done with out our volunteers over the years. We are are always looking for people to help us out by becoming a member of the society and cheering us on from the sidelines or by becoming a fully fledged volunteer member rebuilding, maintaining and running our railway. Young and old alike can always find a project to get their teeth into.

There are 2 ways to join our society. One is to download our membership form from our Join Us page or pop along to the railway on Sundays and pick up a form directly from the Booking Office who will assist you in joining the society.

Volunteering at the Railway
With our youngest volunteer member only 15 years old and our eldest in their 70’s. it is fair to say we have a huge mix of people helping us out. From running the Shops, Buffet and Booking Office to driving and operating the trains and signals every Sunday. We provide training to ensure our volunteers are able to carry out their duties safely and professionally. Volunteering is really simple to to do.
No matter if you can only come in once a month or even year or able to come down more regularly it is up to you. but to get started just pop into the railway and have a chat. We will introduce you to other volunteers and provide information on the roles available. Come smartly dressed for front of house roles or clothes you do not mind getting dirty for the back of house roles.
For more information on volunteering visit our Volunteering Pages and fill out our contact form.
