Pitsford Sidings was the location of the mineral exchange sidings where wagons of iron ore from the Pitsford Ironstone Company were deposited by small industrial saddle tank locomotives to be collected by main line trains for onward shipment to the many steel works that existed in Britain up to the mid 1960's. The plan below is the original LMS rating drawing, hand coloured, showing the boundaries that existed between the Ironstone Company and the Railway Company.
To this day, if one looks hard enough, it is possible to work out where the ironstone line left the sidings and headed out across the fields. The only other evidence of a once prosperous industry is slightly lower ground level in the surrounding fields. Today's signalbox, although in almost the original position was transported from Wolverton where it was used in the extensive works yard.

If you look closely, just to the left of the signalbox token exchange platform, the gate post for the entrance to the ironstone line can still be seen.
