Nº 146C 0-4-0 DM "Bunty"

This 0-4-0 Diesel Locomotive was originally built in 1950 by John Fowler of Leeds to works Nº 4210018 and delivered new to Stoney Stanton granite quarries.

It was subsequently converted to hydraulic drive during an extensive re-build by Thomas Hill in 1964. "Bunty" is now basically a Thomas Hill "Vanguard" with a Rolls Royce C6NFL power unit to works Nº 146C. So extensive was the re-build that the only original parts are the frames, wheels, final drive, buffer beams and cab doors.

"Bunty" was donated to NLR by Redland Aggregates Ltd. of Mountsorrel, where it worked until 1988. Arrived at NLR on 25th February 1989.
