Type 3 CLASS 33  33053 (D6571)

This locomotive was built in 1961 by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company.  It has an Crompton Parkinson engine and is capable of producing 1550 hp, at speeds of up to 85 mph.

These locomotives spent virtually their entire careers based on the southern region, although during the 1980's could be seen as far and wide as Plymouth and Manchester. A handful of the class remained in regular service with EWS until 2000 and a few still see use with West Coast Railways.

33053 arrived at the NLR in November 2007 and has already seen service on the Santa Special trains where its electric train heating proved most useful.

33053 stands in Pitsford Sidings shortly after arrival at the NLR.
