Type 4 CLASS 47 47205 (D1855)

This Locomotive is a Brush design and is one of 512 examples built between 1962 and 1968.  It is a class that has proven to be a very successful mixed traffic diesel engine, built to replace the aging and old fashioned steam locomotives.

These locomotives could be seen all over the railway network coping well with work ranging from a little light shunting around goods yards to the fastest express passenger trains running the length and breath of the British Isles.  Members of the class can still be seen working all type of trains throughout the country.

47205 was purchased from C. F. Booths Scrap merchants and arrived at the Northampton & Lamport Railway from Southampton Marina on the 7th December 2004.
