On Friday 2nd Sept 2022, as part of our involvement in the national #loveyourrailway social media campaign, the Railway was visited by local MP (and former Transport Minister) Chris Heaton-Harris.

NSRL Chairman, Adam Giles, said: “It was a great opportunity to showcase all the fantastic work that has been done by our volunteers, emphasise the value of the Railway to the local visitor economy, and set out our plans and ambitions for the future. We were also able to discuss the importance of security for future supplies of steam loco coal, which is a pressing issue for the whole heritage railway movement”.

Chris Heaton-Harris said: “I had a wonderful visit to Northampton and Lamport Railway in Brampton, and took part in the national awareness campaign, Love Your Railway. It was great to meet the organisers and volunteers and learn about the work they are doing here in Northamptonshire, and the historical and economic impact this work has on the local area. They provide many opportunities for the local community through volunteering and employment, and they bring in thousands of visitors each year. They have around 300 members, of which about 50-70 are active volunteers, helping to run and improve the railway. It was so interesting to hear about all they are doing, and I was lucky enough to have a fascinating look inside the one of the cabs, a cup of tea from the delightful café there, and a trip along the line… I really enjoyed the visit!”
