LMS Tube/5 Plank Open Wagon № M499227, built in 1936 by Charles Roberts & Co. of Horbury Junction, Wakefield (also known as Chas Roberts & Co.).

Initially numbered as № 499227 by the LMS the wagon became № M499227 upon Nationalisation of the railways in 1948.

The last allocation of the wagon was to BR Wolverton Works as an ‘Internal User’ wagon numbered as № 024228. An internal user wagon is a vehicle that is restricted to a certain location and not allowed to be moved on the main line.

The wagon has had its body removed pending restoration of the chassis & replacement of the wooden bodywork.
